Fire in Boomtown

The Story of the Great Chicago Fire

Featuring Amy Lowe & Megan Wells

An original story musical about the Great Chicago Fire performed by Songwriter Amy Lowe and Story Artist Megan Wells. Blending history, music storytelling and theater, the interactive performance is a lively and captivating lesson for young and old. Lowe and Wells use original songs to recreate the city-changing event, from the legend of O'Leary's cow to survivor testimonials to the strength of those that rebuilt the city from ash. Fire in Boomtown received a Parent's Choice Gold award for its "sterling mix of music, commentary, theater and history" that is "beautifully performed". Boomtown also received the Ed Press Distinguished Achievement Award in Electronic Media.

"Judging from the response of the rapt audiences to Fire In Boomtown, Lowe and Wells have a hit." - Chicago Parent Magazine

101 Humiliating Stories

Featuring Shelby Hofer

Directed by Lawrence Keller

In "101 Humiliating Stories", Shelby Hofer dives deep into the universal experience of humiliation. With her trademark charm and intimate delivery, Hofer shares a series of humiliations past, present, and future, including exquisitely detailed anecdotes like "Geeky Celebrity Encounters" and "How I Spent All the Petty Cash From My Office on Makeup." An invitation to perform at her high school reunion in Lansing, Michigan, triggers another series of anxiety-filled fantasies. How will she, a lesbian East Village performance artist, cope with her Midwestern classmates? 101 Humiliating Stories is evocative, moving, and, overall, hilarious. Curt Holman of Creative Loafing listed 101 Humiliating Stories as one of Atlanta top ten plays of 2009.

"combines a novelist's sense of the telling social detail with a Chaplinesque knowledge of the humor in the yawning gap between intention and action... a master comic eternally poised between ingenuousness and irony... inspired." New York Times

Adult: $25.00, Senior (65 and older): $20.00, Student (with ID): $20.00
